Workshops

Global-CSE-B-RESIZEDAward-winning author and illustrator Cybèle Young helped us create Block Letters, a program inspired by her acclaimed book A Few Blocks designed to facilitate a creative exchange between urban explorers 4-8 from different neighbourhoods. We’ve conducted Block Letters workshops across the city, from camps to classrooms.

This fall, we’re using A Few Blocks as the starting point for a conversation between young global citizens. Young will design a booklet in which they can record their observations, for our Global Children’s Story Exchange project.

Toronto children will create stories about their experiences walking to school, and then swap booklets with their counterparts in Uganda.  Afterwards, the kids will work with a teacher on a group letter about how the exercise informed their impressions of life in another country. We will collect these materials in a book for each group.

We’re honoured to partner on this adventure with Children of Hope Uganda and the Toronto District School Board.
